Synopsis

The advent of deep neural networks in recent years has led to enormous advances in artificial intelligence (AI) technology, with machine translation, speech recognition, and human-machine dialogue systems leading the way, and has revolutionized the language services industry. At the same time, a number of questions have arisen: What is the value of learning translation and interpreting? How will the language services profession be impacted by AI? Will human translators be replaced by machines?

This book offers the best possible answers to these questions. Beginning with the fundamentals of machine learning and natural language processing, the key to understanding translation technology, it then examines methods to search and utilize various online resources, including specialized tools, like corpus analysis tools, to enable individual translators and language services providers to improve their efficiency and quality. It also discusses the use of the latest computer technologies to improve translation teaching and research.

Written by authors with multidisciplinary backgrounds, this book covers a range of topics, enabling readers to not only grasp the fundamental principles of various personal and company-wide computer tools and how to use them, but also keep abreast of technological changes in the future.
