Liu Liu, Associate Researcher at the Institute of Rock and Soil Mechanics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, holds a Ph.D. in Engineering from Tongji University and is a visiting scholar at the University of Kansas. He is primarily engaged in research on geophysical exploration and non-destructive testing of rock engineering. He has been selected for the 8th Young Talents Program of the China Association for Science and Technology and the Wuhan Talents Program. He has also led projects such as the National Natural Science Foundation's Youth Project. Liu has received various awards, including the Gold Prize in the High-Value Patent Competition of Hubei Province, the Excellent Doctoral Dissertation Award from the China Highway And Transportation Society, the First Prize for Technological Invention in Shanghai, the First Prize for Scientific and Technological Progress in Hubei Province. His achievements in karst detection technology for pile foundations have been industrialized. As of 2024, over 250 sets of pile foundation karst detection equipment have been applied in China, receiving recommendations of standard in karst areas such as Guangxi and Guizhou province.
Fengjuan Tao, Ph.D. in Geological Engineering from Tongji University, conducted joint research in Geotechnical Engineering at the University of Kansas. Her work focuses on ground improvement and underground engineering. She has published over 10 papers, including 3 in international journals like Acta Geotechnica and International Journal of Geomechanics, and has presented at multiple international conferences. She received two international academic awards, including recognition at Geo-Congress 2021, as well as five provincial and ministerial-level awards, including the Gold Award for High-Value Invention Patents in Hubei Province.

This item is printed on demand - it takes 3-4 days longer - Neuware -Karst voids at pile locations can have a significant negative impact on the bearing capacity and overall safety of cast-in-place pile foundations. This book introduces a state-of-the-art detection system, comprising of specialized equipment, algorithms, and software, designed to identify karst voids during deep cast-in-place pile foundation construction. The system includes a unique multifrequency borehole sonic probe, a single borehole radar, two pile hole sonar probes, and a corresponding signal analysis method. Several field and synthetic tests have been conducted to detect karst voids during cast-in-place pile foundation construction, and the results demonstrate that this technology can offer detailed geological information for pile design and ensure the safety of foundation construction. The work presented in this book has received the First Prize for Technological Invention in Shanghai, China in 2022. 226 pp. Englisch. N° de réf. du vendeur 9789819758333
