This peer-reviewed book complements the decision-making process of busy clinicians at a primary care, outpatient, or ambulatory setting. The book is designed to provide clinicians with "quick-fire" answers to common clinical problems using a one-glimpse algorithm for each topic. The algorithm serves as a quick access or desk reference containing information that is aligned to a much more detailed companion text. The book targets an international audience, driven by an extensive synthesis of international guidelines for each topic, making it customizable. The algorithm is meant to introduce a basic "scaffolding" that can be tailored to meet the demands of local practice, aided by a simplified reference text curated from well established guidelines.
The content of this book is designed to provide and preserve clinically relevant information against a backdrop of continuous advancements in technical knowledge that usually require constant updates. To that end, the Editor and authors have carefully crafted "experience-based roadmaps" in the form of algorithms that could potentially remain timeless, forming the foundation for future decision-making processes to be built upon thus keeping pace with scientific progress and contemporary practices.
Screen, Diagnose, Manage and Monitor - A GP Primer to Common Clinical Conditions is a collaborative effort (between clinicians and academics from different universities and practice-based clinics) initiated by Monash University.
