Deepak S. Rana was born in 1950 at Bilas Kunj Durbar built by his grand father General Tunga SJB Rana. He went to Sherwood college a boarding school in Nani Tal, a hill station in the Kumaon Hills. He spent twelve years there. Walking in the footsteps of Jim Corbett, who went to the same school which previously had the name "Diocesan Boys School" during the British Raj. He spent five years in the state of Ohio, and now stays in Kathmandu with his wife Sushila and their daughter.
