Synopsis

For more than three decades, the physician and anthropologist Henry M. Vyner has been interviewing Tibetan Buddhist and Bon lamas about their experiences of the states of mind that they have attained and realized as a consequence of their lifelong practice of meditation. This volume contains vivid excerpts from years of interviews that have been done with two of those lamas: the late Penor Rinpoche and Khenchen Tsewang Gyatso. Their words bring to life the experience of having a Natural Mind – the joyful and genuine state of mind cultivated by Buddhist and DzogChen meditators. Browse the Table of Contents to see all of the aspects of the Natural Mind that are described herein by these two eminent masters.

À propos de l'auteur

Henry M. Vyner, M.D., is an author and psychiatrist whose work focuses on consciousness, mindfulness, and the nature of the healthy mind. His writing blends psychology, Buddhist philosophy, and long‑term qualitative research, particularly through extensive interviews with Tibetan lamas.

Vyner is best known for developing a “science of the stream of consciousness”, a framework he built over 27 years of interviewing Tibetan lamas about their inner experiences. His central thesis is that the healthy human mind is an egoless mind, even though it paradoxically contains an ego.
