Daw Ma Ma Naing was born to U Thein Naing (Distinction Myanmar) and teacher Daw Hla Myaing on 22.10.54 in Mone Ywar. She is the eldest child of six siblings. She joined the University of Foreign Language Yangon in 1986 before she began her career as a public high school teacher. In 1990, having retired from public school Daw Ma Ma Naing, with the intention of reforming and promoting Myanmar traditional puppetry, re-established Shwebo Tin Maung Puppet Group and not only entertained for the nights at the local carnivals but also, by the Name of Mandalay Marionettes Company, played for tourists.
