Energy shortage and global warming have become the two major problems facing mankind. The over-exploitation of fossil energy leading to the depletion of traditional fossil fuels; the massive burning of fossil fuels has contributed to the increasing concentration of carbon dioxide (CO2) in the atmosphere, causing irreversible ecological problems for earth. Converting CO2 into industrial fuels, not only alleviates the problem of the excessive CO2 content, but also alleviates the urgent need for fossil energy. As an emerging part of carbon capture and utilization technology, electrochemical CO2 reduction (ECR) has received much attention due to its green economic benefits. Since CO2 catalytic reduction is a complex multi-electron process with a large variety of reduction products and competing reactions for hydrogen precipitation, the question of obtaining higher value products with high selectivity has become a hot research problem in recent years. In view of this, this book designs synthetic silver and its bimetallic composite catalyst, and gradually realizes the efficient and highly selective synthesis of high-value products such as carbon monoxide(CO) and ethylene(C2H4), and conducts an in-depth investigation of their catalytic mechanisms.
