Marquée par le décès de son père au Vénézuela en 2020 puis à l'exil de toute sa famille en 2022, l'artiste Olenka Carrasco livre une réflexion sur son pays d'origine, un pays où "il y a tellement de morts que les cimetières ne sont pas terminés à temps", et sur la difficulté de réaliser son deuil à distance. Pour ce projet pluridisciplinaire qui sera exposé aux Rencontre d'Arles à l'été 2023, elle convoque une myriade d'images de sources variées. Elle utilise ses propres archives familiales, des milliers d'images, de vidéos, d'audios spontanés, qui lui ont été envoyés via whatsapp par des membres de sa famille. Divisé en deux chapitres, le livre raconte son histoire intime et familale à partir d'un deuil à distance (Maison prêtée poru un deuil), puis élargit le propos à un récit plus universel, celui de l'exil et de la dissémination d'une famille aux quatre coins du monde (Petit Pays). Seule la terre ocre, celle du Venezuela, les relie.
