Synopsis
Two significant events take place on a sunny Saturday: a fluffy brown puppy named Max arrives in a squirming cardboard box, and eight-year-old Maya learns she is finally considered old enough to take on more responsibility. Neither Maya nor Max fully understand what that will mean, but both are about to experience big changes in their lives.
As Max discovers a world full of interesting smells and shoes to chew, and Maya enjoys new privileges like pouring her own cereal and helping feed Max, both must learn the value of rules. While "No" and boundaries initially feel frustrating, they gradually realize that rules and leashes aren't there to stop them from having fun or keep them small.
