After ten years of war, the Greek kings divide the spoils and are themselves divided. Athena has been offended. Some urge the armies to remain and beg the goddess’s forgiveness. Others demand the long march home. Others set sail at once.
Among them is Diomedes, who has fought gods as well as men. Now he sails for home bearing the Palladium, the sacred icon of Athena, stolen from the heart of the fallen city.
Yet a greater danger waits on a distant shore. Nauplius, whose son Palamedes was betrayed and murdered by the Greeks, has sworn vengeance upon their kings. He means to drag every one of them down with him.
