What if the worst moment of your life really did stop?
Eli Mercer is having a terrible day.
Standing in maths class with everyone laughing at him, he wants only one thing.
For everything to stop.
Then it does.
The clock freezes. His classmates become statues. Even a falling piece of paper hangs motionless in the air.
Only Eli can move.
At first, he thinks he imagined it. Then the pauses happen again.
This time, something else is moving too.
Something tall. Something grey. Something that lives between the seconds.
Soon Eli discovers he isn’t the only one who can enter the frozen world. Mara has seen it too, and together they begin learning its strange rules.
