Core Story & SettingThe Eternal Calm: Set two years after the defeat of Sin, Spira has entered an era of peace. High Summoner Yuna leaves her religious duties behind to become a Sphere Hunter alongside her friends Rikku and Paine.
Gullwings: Operating aboard the airship Celcius as the "Gullwings," the trio hunts ancient movie spheres containing hidden history and lost memories.
A Search for Hope: After finding a sphere showing a young man resembling her lost love, Tidus, Yuna embarks on a journey that draws her into a rising political conflict between rival factions in Spira and a centuries-old weapon threatening the world.
Garment Grid & Dresspheres: Replaces the traditional job system by allowing characters to change mid-battle into different outfits (Dresspheres)—such as Gunner, Songstress, Black Mage, or Warrior—altering their stats, abilities, and playstyle dynamically.
Active Time Battle (ATB) Return: Features a fast-paced, real-time variation of the ATB system where character and enemy attacks can chain together for devastating combo damage.
Non-Linear Mission Structure: Players can freely explore Spira's locations in almost any order via airship, completing various optional story chapters, mini-games, and side quests.
