Synopsis

This book is a sequel to PRACTICAL SPIRITUALITY. The first five chapters of PRACTICAL SPIRITUALITY teach us how to discipline our mind and will, our senses, and how to fight against "sins of the memory and imagination" and "presumptuous sins". The rest of the book teaches us how to train ourselves in the basic virtues; obedience, patience, meekness and chastity.
This book will help the reader to pursue a higher state of spirituality. The Holy Spirit, working in synergy with our human will, will complete and perfect that which Practical Spirituality helped us to do. The Spirit will help us upgrade our "basic" virtues that we have been so far practising. Obedience shall be upgraded to goodness, patience to longsuffering, meekness to gentleness and chastity to temperance.
But the Spirit will also implant in us the seeds of four more virtues, that so far we have not experienced, Joy, Peace and Faith, not the faith that we confessed when we were baptised, but the faith that moves mountains. as we shall learn later. Finally, the Spirit will crown His work in us with Agape or divine love, the love with which God loves us, and which he requires us to give to others.
