SAMUDRA MANTHAN — The Churning of the Cosmic Ocean
When the gods lose their strength and the forces of the Asuras rise, Vishnu reveals a plan unlike anything the universe has ever witnessed: the Ocean of Milk must be churned to obtain Amrita, the divine nectar of immortality.
But the task is impossible without the help of the very beings the gods oppose.
Mount Mandara becomes the cosmic churning rod. The mighty serpent Vasuki becomes the rope. When the mountain sinks beneath the ocean, Vishnu appears as Kurma, the divine tortoise, to support it. Then the great churning begins.
But before the nectar appears, something far more dangerous emerges—the deadly Halahala poison. As the poison threatens all creation, Shiva steps forward and accepts the terrible burden, becoming Nilakantha, the Blue-Throated Lord.
Then the cosmic ocean begins to reveal its wonders: celestial beings, divine animals, sacred trees, precious jewels, Goddess Lakshmi, Dhanvantari, and finally the long-awaited vessel of Amrita.
But the nectar creates a new struggle.
The alliance between gods and Asuras collapses, and Vishnu assumes the enchanting form of Mohini. The fate of immortality hangs in the balance, while the story of Rahu and Ketu begins.
Written as a flowing mythological narrative, SAMUDRA MANTHAN brings this extraordinary Puranic story to life through vivid scenes, dramatic encounters, divine characters, cosmic landscapes, and the timeless symbolism hidden within the churning of the ocean.
This is a story of ambition and sacrifice, cooperation and rivalry, destruction and creation, poison and nectar—and the eternal search for something beyond mortality.
Enter the cosmic ocean. The great churning is about to begin.
