Is this a book on theology or evangelism? I would say both. It began with a theological focus aimed at seminary students, but it took a practical turn in response to the urgent need to address the confusion surrounding evangelism in today's church. It is ideal for use in small groups or for personal reading.
The book answers the question posed by Reformed theology: Why does regeneration precede faith? Evangelicalism argues that you must believe in Jesus as your Savior so that God will grant you the «new birth,» whereas Reformed theology says: «God grants you the new birth; that is why you are able to believe in Jesus.»
As Jesus told Nicodemus: «You must be born again to see the kingdom of God» (John 3:3).
