Synopsis

The Magdalene Files is a sweeping work of historical fiction that follows a forbidden tradition from the streets of Roman Jerusalem to the hidden chambers of nineteenth-century France.

In the aftermath of the crucifixion, Mary Magdalene carries something more dangerous than a relic: a record of teachings that may challenge what others are already beginning to build in Jesus' name. At its heart is a vision of spiritual authority that cannot be owned by priest, institution, ruler, or church—a kingdom found within rather than imposed from above.

What begins with Mary becomes a struggle of preservation spanning generations. The writings pass through Alexandria, Judea, Egypt, Italy, Gaul, Rome, and the religious upheavals of medieval Europe. Scribes, widows, healers, teachers, dissidents, priests, and ordinary guardians risk their lives to preserve fragments of a tradition that powerful institutions would rather control, reinterpret, or erase.

But the manuscripts themselves are not presented as perfect revelation. They accumulate damaged pages, competing memories, annotations, contradictions, and the fingerprints of everyone who carried them. Their survival becomes part of the story: truth is not protected by placing it beyond question, but by allowing people to examine it, argue over it, copy it, and refuse to surrender it to a single authority.

The trail eventually reaches Rennes-le-Château, where a priest discovers an ancient cache hidden beneath his church and is forced to decide whether the past should remain buried. What follows brings the central conflict of the novel into its final form: the struggle between preservation and suppression, inquiry and certainty, faith and institutional control.

The Magdalene Files is a story about Mary Magdalene, but it is also about the people history forgets—the custodians of dangerous ideas, the women and men who carry memory across generations, and the recurring human impulse to decide who is allowed to speak for the sacred.

It is not a gospel of worship.

It is a story of memory, resistance, and flame.
