The question of salvation is one of the most important questions facing humanity. Every person, regardless of nationality, culture, or background, must ultimately ask: How can I be reconciled to God? How can my sin be forgiven? And where is the way to eternal life?
For the Jewish people, these questions have a special place in the Scriptures. From the beginning of the Torah, God revealed that sin separates humanity from Him and that forgiveness requires a way of atonement. Through the sacrifices, the priesthood, the Tabernacle, the Feasts of the LORD, and the writings of the prophets, God gradually revealed His plan of redemption.
The purpose of this book, Salvation of Jews, is to explore that plan of salvation as it is revealed throughout the Scriptures of Israel—the Tanakh—and to show how these Scriptures point toward the Messiah.
This book begins with the origin of sin. In the Garden of Eden, humanity experienced the terrible consequences of disobedience to God. Sin brought separation, death, suffering, and the loss of fellowship with the Creator. Yet God did not abandon humanity. From the very beginning, God revealed a way of redemption.
The system of Korban, or sacrifice, provides an important foundation for understanding this redemption. The sacrifices described in the Torah were not merely religious ceremonies. They taught Israel profound spiritual truths about sin, repentance, substitution, blood, forgiveness, and reconciliation with God. The principle of sacrifice points us toward the need for a Savior—someone who could accomplish what human beings could never accomplish by themselves.
As we examine the Scriptures, we discover that the Messiah was not introduced suddenly in HaBrit HaChadashah (הברית החדשה). The expectation of Messiah runs throughout the Tanakh. The Scriptures speak of His birth, His suffering, His death, His resurrection, His ascension, and His future return. The Messiah is connected with the seed of David and is revealed through numerous passages and patterns throughout the Hebrew Scriptures.
