Synopsis

his book is one comic trilogy told in three different languages:
fantasy, courtroom comedy, and philosophical fable.
Story One asks what happens when power changes the clock. If
yesterday disappears, citizens cannot remember what was promised,
delayed, denied, or broken.
Story Two asks what happens when power changes the rulebook. If a
rule is hidden until after the punishment, law becomes a trap instead
of a warning.
Story Three asks what happens when mankind changes the words
around its own vanity. If civilization is so wise, why must it explain
away hunger, cruelty, fear, and reputation so often?
Together, the three stories make one argument: democracy and justice
depend on memory, fair warning, honest reasons, and ordinary people
who keep asking the question power most dislikes: explain why.
The stories are exaggerated on purpose. They are not offered as
factual accounts. They are comic tests. When a clock stops, wind it.
When a rule appears from nowhere, challenge it. When a speech
smells like vanity, let the dog sniff it.
