Synopsis

Pirate captain Samuel Bellamy (Black Sam) fancied himself a gentleman pirate who would take from the rich and give to the poor. Few know, however, that he was not the first to do so, nor to do it completely altruistically. That distinction belonged to Capitaine Jacques Charbon (Black Jack) who turned piracy and privateering greed on their heads during the 17th century when he took to the seas to defend the oppressed and beleaguered.

Not everyone was pleased with his generosity, however. And there were those who would stop at nothing to prevent Jacques from carrying on with his mission of doing good for good people.

Heart of Gold is the origin story of the character behind the modern-day Shared Treasure Hunt movement (STH)—an activity whereby kids help other kids by going on a search for school supplies that they then place in a backpack to be delivered to a child in need.
