Synopsis

America’s Pursuit of Freedom: A History Frequently Neglected is for young and old adults alike seeking an accurate, refreshing historical discussion about America and its values.
Citizens of the United States enjoy greater freedom than any other people in the world. This book explores the human search for freedom and its role in the conception and founding of the United States. My inspiration reflects earlier days as an American History teacher, and the questions, thoughts, and concerns of former students.
Things everyone should know! Yet many do not,
Review America’s providential foundation—an amazing history with fascinating events that affected every American’s heritage.
Read about George Washington, John Adams, Samuel Adams, and Thomas Jefferson, but also Sarah Bradlee Fulton, Phillis Wheatley, and Abigail Adams.
Who were the Separatists?
How did Enlightenment philosophers influence America’s freedoms?
Have you read the 27 colonial grievances that triggered America’s Independence?
There seems to be a lack of knowledge about this Republic and Capitalism, as well as alternative economic systems, including the gruesome history of a Marxist state. Unfortunately, Communist propaganda has fascinated many students.
What are young adults missing, and what are they learning in school, on television, and on social media? They must not know about the sacrifices their ancestors endured for the sacredness of the freedoms that they take for granted.
America’s Pursuit of Freedom: A History Frequently Neglected is a fresh and novel analysis of America’s birth and principles. Why this book at this time? The author, a retired educator with a background in American History, is deeply concerned about the lack of historical knowledge among young adults regarding their national heritage. The book focuses on a variety of events, eras, and the political and physical battles that compounded, seemingly at random, to create the United States of America. Also included are the Reformation, the Renaissance, the Age of Science, the Enlightenment Era, and two Great Awakening periods.
In early returns, the book has been called “passionate,” “fun,” and “interesting.” A young college student reviewed the book, commenting, “I learned more from reading this book than I did my entire time in public school.” That, of course, is the reason for the book and an affirmation of its value.
Similarly, a young college graduate observed Chapter 8 regarding colonial women being “very fun and informative to read. I fully agree with your opening statement that women in historical literature are often overlooked… You brought lots of life and historical accuracy to these important women.” Few realize the important roles women played in the founding of our country. Who were these ladies, and what did they do to make America resolute in the struggle against the British?
An independent publisher reviewed, “The manuscript carries a weight of historical evidence that is palpable from the outset. The author has clearly done the work to connect disparate historical threads, from John Wycliffe to Thomas Jefferson, into a single narrative of freedom.” To the publisher’s point, one of the most important events in the history of human thought was the Reformation, beginning with a precursor, John Wycliffe, the “Morning Star of the Reformation.” Also examined are Enlightenment philosophers such as Locke, Rousseau, and Voltaire, as well as many other relevant events.
I hope that this book will not only bring the reader a new understanding and respect for the God-given freedoms they hold, but also a realization of the path traveled. It’s a path members of our American family gave their lives, fortunes, and sacred honor to establish and defend.
