After years away, Jasper Riley returns to his Appalachian hometown tucked between the North Georgia and Tennessee mountains to settle family affairs after his mother's passing. What begins as a final visit soon draws him toward something far more sinister.
As autumn settles across Cedar Creek, Jasper is pulled back through memory: simpler Southern days of fishing, treehouse adventures, and afternoons chasing crickets with Roscoe, his loyal golden retriever. Navigating between the hearing and deaf worlds, he wanders deeper into the past, where cherished memories begin to reveal what childhood innocence once helped him survive. But beneath the warmth of Southern small-town life waits a terrifying secret hidden in an aging barn, buried under decades of silence. When the truth finally rises, Jasper must choose between vengeance and forgiveness-and decide which path can finally set him free.Les informations fournies dans la section « Synopsis » peuvent faire référence à une autre édition de ce titre.
P.D. Davis was born and raised in the farmlands between the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Georgia and the hills of Southeast Tennessee. The culture, landscapes, and distinctive voices of the South remain at the heart of his writing. After surviving meningitis as a young child, Davis learned later in grade school that he had significant hearing loss. Navigating the hearing and Deaf worlds through hearing aids, lipreading, and sign language, he found refuge in books and journaling and began developing his voice as a writer. His debut, When Crickets Weep, is a creative nonfiction memoir exploring Southern memory, Deaf identity, childhood trauma, and the difficult path toward truth and healing. An advocate for adult survivors of child sexual abuse and exploitation, Davis writes with compassion for those whose stories have too often gone unheard. He is currently developing a mystery-thriller series touched with supernatural suspense.
