How do you bury the truth? Five hundred metres of ocean, one corporation, and a silence with a price.
Chile, the 2030s. The wars have come down to the continent, oil is "blood gold", and the State has handed its prisoners — and its conscience — to a private security empire called SecurCorp.
Ana Soto is the network's star reporter and the daughter of the man who runs it. When a story drags her into the flooded coal galleries of Lota, she uncovers a plan that is not about justice or security at all: a clandestine extraction operation that will hollow out the ground beneath a living town and let the Pacific finish the job.
Her only allies are the people the system has already thrown away — a fugitive she owes her life to, a hacker with nothing left to lose, and a brilliant old engineer the corporation keeps caged because his mind is too dangerous to free. Her only enemy is everywhere: in the cameras, in the contracts, in her father's eyes, and in a faceless investor who treats human lives as line items on a balance sheet.
As the pumps start and the countdown begins, Ana must decide how much of herself she is willing to bury to drag the truth back to the surface.
Socavón: A Perpetual Concession is a dystopian thriller about corporate power, engineered disaster and the unbearable cost of silence — the first English-language edition of Roberto Delucchi's acclaimed Spanish novel.
Perfect for readers who like the corporate dread of Blake Crouch, the moral fault lines of Don Winslow, and dystopias that feel one headline away from real.
