Synopsis

A grip closes around his throat at 2:14 every morning. No hands. No mark left behind. Just a voice from nowhere, repeating four words: She is mine.

Inspector Akram has built his career on bending evidence to fit convenient truths. But nothing in sixteen years of policing prepared him for what's happening inside his own home — his wife Parveen, sitting still for hours at a time, speaking in a voice that isn't hers, while his mother hides bruises shaped like a hand that was never human.

When three bodies turn up in a Dadar apartment, each one strangled from the inside with no mark on the skin, Akram recognizes the method. He's felt it himself, in his own bedroom, in the dark.

The trail leads to a faith healer in Bhendi Bazaar who deals in something older than law and far more binding — a bargain passed from one desperate, trapped soul to the next, each one convinced that power borrowed from the abyss is power they'll be able to control.

Akram is about to learn the truth that's haunted his family for two generations: the entity in his house was never the real danger. It was only ever a mirror — held up to every choice he made, every silence he kept, and every kind of cage he never noticed he was building.

The Gnawing Hollow of Dadar is a slow-burn supernatural horror-thriller set in 1980s Bombay, where the real haunting isn't the thing that grips your throat in the dark — it's everything you did to deserve it.
