The Core Plot
The story follows the tragic and well-deserved downfall of King Osmond, a vain, foolish, and arrogant ruler who inherits the throne from his remarkably wise father, King Nicholas. Because he values his ego over the well-being of his people, Osmond loses his kingdom to a wise slave and ultimately meets his end at the hands of divine intervention.
A Legacy Wasted:
Unlike his father, King Osmond surrounds himself with young, greedy sycophants and ignores the council of wise elders. Early on, his foolishness costs the crown valuable ancestral lands when he carelessly brags about a hidden royal box to his deceitful friends, who promptly steal it.
Greed and Cruelty:
As king, Osmond constantly makes disastrous decisions. When a wealthy expatriate offers to build a free vocational company for the village youth, Osmond's greed drives him to demand half the profits, ruining the opportunity. Later, during a severe drought, he cruelly orders the starving farmers to double their tributes to the palace.
The Imprisonment of Santa:
Santa, a 20-year-old brilliant and musically gifted slave, subtly criticizes the King's evil ways through a song. In a fit of rage, Osmond throws Santa into the dungeon, dismissing him as a "hick" with no future.
The Rebellion:
Pushed to the brink by Osmond's tyranny, the elders and the youth unite. After Osmond fires all the chiefs and tries to have the Palace Seer killed for warning him of impending doom, the villagers march on the palace. Osmond’s supposed "friends" abandon him, and he cowers and flees into exile under the cover of night.
The Rise of the Slave King:
With the throne empty, the village consults the oracle. Fulfilling an ancient prophecy, the gods choose Santa—the very slave Osmond imprisoned—to be the new king. Santa rules with wisdom, compassion, and the guidance of the elders, bringing immediate prosperity to the land of Cosmos.
Divine Justice:
Refusing to accept defeat, Osmond gathers a mercenary army and his deceitful friends to attack the village and reclaim the throne. However, as they march, the gods unleash a terrifying storm. A supernatural whirlwind and an unseen physical force block Osmond's path, causing his army to drown in a ravine. Osmond dies alone in the storm, defeated by the heavens.
