In the middle of the Arizona desert stands a concrete giant, Hoover Dam, taller than any building Petey has ever seen, holding back enough water to fill an ocean. His father runs the gift shop right beside it. It's just part of everyday life... until the day it isn't.
Sent on a simple errand to deliver muffins to his friends and to kind, blind Mr. Jenkins, who always has time for a good story, Petey skateboards home as the sun begins to set. That's when he hears it: a trickle of water where there shouldn't be one. A tiny crack in the spillway, and behind it, a monster patiently waiting for its chance.
With no one around to help, Petey does the only thing he can. He plugs the leak with his finger and holds on. All through the cold desert night, alone under the stars, one small boy stands between his town and the angry water.
