Synopsis

In 1872, the Mary Celeste was found adrift in the Atlantic, fully provisioned, undamaged, and utterly empty. No struggle. No bodies. No explanation that has ever fully closed the case.

Dr. Emory Voss has built a career on cases exactly like this one: separating the historical record from the myths that grow up around it. He's good at his job because he doesn't believe in ghosts.

He does, however, have a condition; recurring, escalating night terrors that have plagued him since childhood, always more vivid, always more specific than the last. His doctors have never explained them. He's learned to live around them.

Until a descendant of the Mary Celeste's captain hands him a family document no historian has ever seen, and it contains a detail Emory already knew. A detail from a dream he had before he ever opened the file.

Now the man who debunks the impossible for a living has to ask the one question his entire career was built to avoid:
What if he isn't dreaming the past? What if he's remembering it?

The first case in the Unwitnessed series; a novella of history, obsession, and the line between what we imagine and what we've never let ourselves forget.
