What do we really know about agoraphobia and panic disorder with agoraphobia?
How are they different?
Can you still lead a normal life if they appear in your life?
Agoraphobia: When the Everyday Becomes a Feat is based on my own experience living with both disorders.
It was born from the desire to help and guide both those who may be suffering from their effects and are afraid to ask for help, as well as those who haven't even realized they have them. I also want it to help the family and friends of someone with these conditions better understand the situation, know how they can provide support, and what they should avoid saying and/or doing.
It hasn't been easy to get to this point… A few months ago, I was unable to recall certain situations or describe the slightest symptom, because I would relive it. Now that I'm much better, it's time.
I want this book to be an intimate dialogue with the reader, speaking in a clear, simple way so that everyone can understand it. I believe it's increasingly important that we learn about aspects of mental health and stop trivializing it. The greater the empathy, the better the integration.
The pace of life our society is enduring, with pandemics, wars, instabilities of all kinds... is considerably increasing cases of depression and anxiety. This favors agoraphobia (worse if it comes with panic attacks), which stealthily creeps into our lives without us realizing it. By the time we discover it, it's too late: it has taken control of everything and made us its prisoners.
We cannot live in fear. The more we know, the more we'll progress and the better quality of life we'll enjoy.
Agoraphobia is an anxiety disorder that has no immediate or definitive cure, but you can live with it.
It's time to face ourselves, our reality.
