Synopsis

Jamie Starling looks like an ordinary twelve-year-old boy.

He has messy hair, a squeaky bicycle, homework problems, normal parents, and a school bully who keeps trying to prove he is scary.

But Jamie is not ordinary.

Jamie is secretly an alien living one human lifetime on Earth as a kind of holiday ride. He can destroy invisible flying saucers with a flick of his finger, defeat plasma goblins before breakfast, and wipe out alien attack fleets while pretending to do maths.

The alien war is easy.

School is not.

Jamie must never reveal who he really is. Not to his teachers. Not to his parents. Not even to his best friends, Mia and Ozzy, who are beginning to notice that trouble has a strange habit of bouncing off Jamie and landing on someone else.

When Commander Vrokk launches one ridiculous invisible invasion after another, Jamie defeats him without breaking a sweat. But dodging the bully, Tyler Grigg, surviving group projects, hiding his impossible abilities, and learning how to be a good friend are much harder.

Because Jamie has one very important rule:

He must never use his powers against humans.

So when bullies charge, Jamie dodges. When dodge balls fly, Jamie bends. When Tyler tries to shove him, Tyler somehow ends up falling into puddles, tunnels, hula hoops, recycling bins, and other deeply unfortunate places.

Packed with invisible lasers, school chaos, snack-based science, awkward friendships, cardboard planets, and plenty of laugh-out-loud disasters, Jamie Starling and the Invisible War is a funny, warm-hearted adventure about kindness, courage, fitting in, and discovering that being human is the strangest adventure in the universe.

A great read for children who enjoy comedy, school adventures, secret identities, silly villains, and heroes who win without throwing a single punch.
