Borderless Passport is a concise, provocative manifesto about the power passports and borders have over human opportunity. Drawing on the author’s experience of growing up in Iran, migrating, and living across different national systems, the book asks why a person’s access to travel, work, banking, education, and safety should depend so heavily on the country printed on a document.
The book imagines a human-first alternative: a permanent digital identity controlled by the individual, protected by cryptography, verified without exposing unnecessary personal data, and resilient to the failure or hostility of any single state. It explores migration, nationalism, war, privacy, distributed ledgers, selective disclosure, and the risks of turning identity technology into surveillance or social credit.
This is not a finished blueprint. It is an invitation—to engineers, policymakers, researchers, migrants, human-rights advocates, and anyone who believes human dignity should come before nationality—to debate, challenge, and improve the idea.
