Synopsis

Every student who learns to code, configure a network, or analyze a system is learning to use real power. That power can protect people, or it can hurt them.

Most cybersecurity courses teach the technical skill and leave it there. Cyber Apostles doesn't. This complete, twenty-five-chapter textbook is built on a simple standard: a cyber apostle is technically competent, legally informed, and ethically grounded, and none of those three can substitute for the other two.

The book moves through five parts. It opens with the foundations: risk, security objectives, professional ethics, and the law that actually governs what you're allowed to do with a keyboard. From there it covers the systems and networks students will be defending, the threats and attackers they'll be up against, how organizations actually respond when something goes wrong, and finally the newer territory: cloud and IoT, AI and deepfakes, protecting kids online, and where a career in this field can go. It ends with a full capstone case that forces students to hold every one of those pieces together at once, under pressure, the way real incidents actually happen.

Every chapter follows the same pattern: a real-world incident to work through, the Cyber Apostle's Compass as a decision-making tool, a hands-on authorized lab, and an applied project. The whole book is aligned to AP Cybersecurity, PLTW Cybersecurity, the NIST NICE Workforce Framework, and NIST CSF 2.0.

Dr. Didacus Oparaocha wrote this book out of the classroom, not around it. He's STEM Lead Teacher at Engineering and Science University Magnet School, founder of FIRST Robotics Team 5142, and spent years training engineers at Sikorsky Aircraft before turning to education full time. He wrote this for students who are going to be handed real technical power soon, and who deserve to be taught what to do with it.
