Synopsis
Dirk Strangelove is dead. His memories are not finished with him.
As rain falls over Sanctuary and a friend speaks his name, Dirk is carried back to the day he first entered the city: young, physically whole and certain that any identity could be worn without becoming a prison.
A violent raid on a Ministry transport reveals his gift for Faith—the dangerous art of persuading people, machines and reality itself to accept a useful lie. It also brings him to the attention of Sanctuary’s secretive authorities and into the path of Severin Holt, a former Hunter with an impossible promise.
Holt intends to use Blackwater’s rail-signalling network to make one statement binding for everyone: the war is already over.
If he succeeds, the killing may end overnight. So may the freedom to disagree, remember differently or choose what peace means.
With a civilian train racing towards catastrophe and Sanctuary preparing its own ruthless solution, Dirk must decide whether the world can be saved without forcing it into a single story. Each lie can alter reality—but the greatest lies alter the person telling them.
