Shoemaker
This book began not in a library or a laboratory, but in a room with another human being who could not understand why they had become the villain of a story they had never written. It began in the particular silence that falls when a person has been told, by enough voices over a long enough period of time, that the harm they suffered was actually harm they caused — and has started, against every instinct of their own conscience, to wonder if those voices might be right.
We have each encountered this silence in our work, though it arrives wearing different faces. For Dr. Franklin Edward Shoemaker, it arrived in clinical settings — in the careful, exhausting accounts of people who had survived relationships, families, and institutions that had turned their own reality against them. For Tonya A. Sharrett-Shoemaker, it arrived in the harder-edged terrain of lived experience and community advocacy, where the patterns of projection and inversion play out not in theoretical terms but in broken families, fractured friendships, and court proceedings shaped by false narratives. Together, we brought these two streams of knowing into conversation, and what emerged from that conversation is this book.
Projection and Moral Inversion is the eleventh volume in The Reversal Series — a body of work developed under the intellectual and therapeutic framework of Dr. RAD The Attachment Code Breaker, Lakeland, Florida. The Reversal Series takes as its central premise that many of the most damaging psychological and relational phenomena in human life involve some form of reversal: a turning-upside-down of reality, truth, or identity. Earlier volumes in this series have examined the reversal of affection, the reversal of power, and the reversal of accountability, among others. This volume addresses what we regard as the most comprehensive and devastating reversal of all — the reversal of moral identity itself.
