Synopsis

They caught one of the men watching from the woods.

He says he wasn’t the first, and the man who taught him is still out there.

After a suspect is captured fleeing a rural property, Detective Nora Vance expects the arrest to break open the tree-line investigation. Instead, Caleb Voss confesses to watching houses across Pennsylvania, Maryland, and West Virginia. His hidden files contain photographs, family schedules, entry points, and the addresses of twenty-six households that never knew they were being studied.

Voss insists the method was passed down through generations. Fence crews, hunters, burglars, and drifters taught one another how to observe homes without being noticed. How to use utility roads and abandoned properties. How to disappear before police arrive.

As Nora’s task force follows the trail through neglected reports and decades-old missing-person cases, a terrifying pattern emerges. Women vanished after reporting strange men outside their homes. Evidence was misfiled, witnesses were dismissed, and some watchers did far more than observe.

The arrest should have ended the fear.

But someone is still photographing families, removing evidence, and standing beyond bedroom windows. He knows every route through the woods, and his records contain an address connected to Nora’s own past.

If you see him at the tree line, he already knows you saw him.

DON’T LOOK OUTSIDE is a disturbing, fast-paced police procedural horror novel about rural isolation, buried crimes, and the predators who learned to hide in plain sight.
