Synopsis

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU SAVE THOSE YOU LOVE AND THE UNIVERSE SENDS THE BILL?

Elia Vance, theoretical physicist at the University of Cambridge, has done the impossible: he rewrote reality to save his wife Clara and daughter Alice from death. He used Majorana's Machine, manipulated the strings of spacetime, and contracted a debt with the void. Now the void wants to be paid. Alice's shadows lag half a second behind. Clara's matter intermittently turns translucent.

In Novaya Zemlya, in the Russian Arctic, an American physicist named Aris Thorne has built the Second Machine — and is using it to tear permanent holes in reality's membrane, to let in the Entities of the Bulk: ante-ontological beings that consider human life a reserve of energy to consume. To stop him, Elia needs Elena Costas: an astrophysicist at Naples' CNR, a sharp and rational woman carrying an impossible memory — the memory of a man she has never met, in a life the universe tried to erase.

Together, navigating the Argentine Andes, the Barents Sea, and finally the heart of the Bulk itself, they must answer a question physics cannot solve: what are you willing to lose to save those you love?

The Debt of Reality: The Eclipse of the Bulk is the second volume of The Entanglement Cycle — Italian hard science fiction that uses theoretical physics as a metaphor for love, grief, and resistance against the perfection of nothingness.

GROUNDED IN REAL PHYSICS
• Majorana Fermions (particles that are their own antiparticle)
• Quantum Zeno Effect (a system can't change state while continuously observed)
• Brane Cosmology (our universe as a membrane in hyperspace)
• Landauer's Principle (information has physical reality)
• The real disappearance of Ettore Majorana (1938)

WHY THIS BOOK
• For readers of Greg Egan, Blake Crouch, and Ted Chiang: real quantum physics used as a narrative engine.
• For fans of Tom Clancy and James Rollins thrillers: Arctic bunkers, impossible missions, villains with impeccable logic.
• For those seeking a story about love as a physical force: the father-daughter relationship as the only universal constant.
• For fans of Christopher Nolan: narrative structure on multiple temporal levels, cascading revelations.

KEY TOPICS: brane cosmology · Landauer principle · sterile neutrinos · time paradox · Italian hard sci-fi · scientific thriller
