Synopsis
A dark tale of madness, identity, and moral decay
The Khorcyns were monsters who could steal the traits of those they killed. After a devastating race war, they were wiped out and left to rot in their graveyard bog. But death has never been enough to stop their master.
Centuries after his own death, Acari awakens with fractured memories, the voice of his master in his head, and a single task: recover the black crown and harvest the vitality of the Sentinels so his master may rise again.
But something went wrong in his recreation, and he is now afflicted with a wasting disease that can only be delayed by stealing the lives of others. Because of this, Acari finds himself trapped between impossible choices. If he obeys his master's demands, he will restore the cruel tyrant who tried to lead the world to ruin. If he resists, the disease consuming his body will eventually kill him.
As the line between survival and monstrosity begins to blur, Acari must decide what kind of creature he truly is—and what he wishes to become. Because death cannot erase the horrors of the past, and some crowns demand more than loyalty. They demand sacrifice.
