A "FOUNDATION" upon which to build a fencing program!
This is a fencing book both for fencers and for aspiring (or "nominated") coaches, designed to assist in helping neophyte fencers become effective competitors. Carlos de Campos Andrada was well-placed to write such a book, as he travelled to Hungary in order to study at the prestigious Toldi Miklos Institute, and used what he learned there to help set up the Portuguese Olympic fencing program after WWII. He was one of the first modern Olympic fencers to adopt Hungarian sabre abroad, combining it with advances in foil and Portugues epee.
The rock-solid presentation of fencing theory, along with an extensive library of readily accessible fencing lessons, make this a must-have for classical and historical fencers, particularly those who have found themselves coaching but who are not sure where to begin.
