Synopsis

Born into the circus, Ayam Handsoom was raised as the “Little Lark,” a golden-voiced lute player trained to charm crowds while his parents picked pockets. After a lifetime of being used as a distraction for thieves, young Ayam works up the nerve to defy his parents and leave the circus. Along with his two best friends — Bucky, a tumbling gnome with a sharp wit, and Bada, a hell-born fire-juggler — Ayam joins a westbound caravan for a fresh start in an honest life.

While the travel is rough, the friends keep each others' spirits high through song, dance, terrible puns, and endless rehearsals of improbable theatrical "masterpieces" that Bucky invents on the fly. But when the leader of a rival troupe sets her eye on Ayam, it puts in motion a series of events that just might cost Ayam his hard-won freedom.
