Two pilots ferrying a small plane across the country become stranded when engine trouble lands them at an abandoned military airfield in remote Texas. Out of options and with a storm approaching, the two notice a curious stranger who emerges out of the storm and offers to help. But who is this Good Samaritan who purports to be a Vietnam veteran and Native American, and where did he come from? Told in the form of a memoir and based on real events, this novelette (75 pages) relates the story of the stranded aviators, the unexplainable events that begin to happen, and ultimately becomes an ode to the mysterious corners that still exist in aviation. Written for non-pilots as well as aviation enthusiasts, this fiction quick read is engaging, interesting, and thought-provoking.
