D-Unit is the acute wing of a lockdown psychiatric hospital. These fictional stories depict the suffocating weight of isolated existence. Alienated, each character lives in a world of their creation, surrounded by an impenetrable dome. However, even though their medical records contain pages of diagnosis, the patients are often the ones who have managed to preserve the seeds of humanity in an age characterized by instability, ambiguity, and loneliness. In other words, those who end up at D-Unit experience modern life more intensely.

Milan Djurasovic is a Bosnian American writer, artist, and journalist. Milan has published dozens of articles and short stories in various international magazines. His most recent books of fiction include Balkan Grit (2019) and No More Happy Endings (2016), both from Červená Barva Press. His educational background is in psychology and Russian literature. He currently lives and works in Sacramento, California.

Aleksandra is an academic researcher and an urbanist who examines cities to improve quality of life. Aleksandra's background is in urban planning, urban design, and landscape design. Aleksandra's other interests are in literature, film, sustainability, ecology, and environmental psychology.
