The author of Darwin Speaks! is back with a hilarious new novel, October Surprise, that examines the world of international diplomacy with a jaundiced eye. Rex Avalon fears his assignment to the American Embassy in the tiny European kingdom of Morovia will be a career dead end. Things become more interesting, and perilous, when the foreign minister offers him the opportunity to lead the country's transition to democracy. Rex soon finds out that other, more sinister players have their sights set on the nation and its valuable lithium supply. And what, exactly, is the kingdom's beautiful young queen up to? Part satire, part political thriller, and part fairy tale love story, October Surprise will keep you guessing, laughing, and maybe even thinking about some of our weightiest contemporary challenges.
