Synopsis

Meet the children’s bird book where learning takes flight and turns young readers into backyard birders.

Witty, wise-cracking crow accompanies kids through The ABZs of Birds, a fascinating, fact-filled introduction to the world of North American birds. Woven into engaging tales from Albatross to Zebra Finch, kids discover, question, laugh and learn about our waders and warblers, swifts, swallows and songbirds, owls and eagles. Over 100 lively illustrations capture birds’ uniqueness, while a kid-friendly glossary and index build vocabulary and early research skills.

Unlike many children’s nature books, The ABZ of Birds tackles big issues like habitat loss and human-caused extinction, reproduction, even the dilemma of puppy mills, in language kids can grasp. The final chapter, “Are You a Birder?” invites children outdoors to explore, observe and join the companionship of a global birding community. Perfect for curious kids, science-loving classrooms, and families ready to turn screen time into green time.
