Synopsis

Seven lords and ladies arrive in a twilit garden filled with monumental statues of mythical monsters. The beautiful but treacherous queen of the garden invites them to dine with her and challenges them to a storytelling contest. Vying for her favor, they each weave tales of ancient alchemy, metallurgy, espionage, lineage, and war. After the queen tempts them to partake of the cakes and potions she has prepared, the crystal orb from which she seems to derive her power fills with a strange light, but nobody is prepared for what happens when the monsters come to life.

Rachel Fulton Brown is Associate Professor of History at the University of Chicago, where she teaches courses on the history of Christianity, medieval European religious, cultural, and intellectual history, and the works of J.R.R. Aisha Fajardo (Grimmer Arts) is a fine artist and illustrator from Madrid, currently based in Cincinnati, Ohio. She has worked as a freelance illustrator in the dark fantasy genre doing book covers, illustrations for table top games, and private commissions.
