À propos de l'auteur
Roger D. Evans's profound connection to World War II is a legacy of service. His father fought with the U.S. Army's Fourth Infantry Division in the grueling Hürtgen Forest campaign, and two of his brothers served in the U.S. Army, with one wounded in Vietnam. This family tradition inspired Roger to enlist in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War, an experience that solidified his discipline, perseverance, and pride. A retired NTSB investigator, Evans has dedicated years to meticulously researching the World War II era and the Holocaust. His passion has taken him to historical sites across Europe, and his writing is the culmination of this intensive study. Though not Jewish, Evans approaches his work on the Holocaust with deep reverence and empathy, exploring themes of moral courage, survival, and the complexities of human nature. His time at Camp Smith in Hawaii, processing replacement orders for Marines in Vietnam, provided a stark understanding of the human cost of war. This perspective, coupled with his military background, informs his commitment to remember, honor, and bear witness through his storytelling. Born in Michigan as the sixth of nine children and now residing in Arizona with his wife, Cindy, Roger's life has been shaped by the values of duty, resilience, and a profound reflection on history and the human spirit.
