Penny’s story as told to Ellen Beeler
Penny is no ordinary pony.
Penny notices everything—humans, other horses, and the feelings and emotions that ripple through the air between them. Small in size but big in spirit, she believes being herself should be enough.
When Penny is pushed into the human world, she discovers humans demand obedience from her instead of understanding. She tries to cooperate without losing who she is, but each misunderstanding brings more fear and frustration. Eventually, she’s labeled "difficult," then "untrainable," and sent to be discarded.
Rescued just in time, Penny finds a forever herd where her sensitivity isn’t a problem—it’s a gift. She begins working with humans to help them slow down, listen, and learn what horses already know.
Told in Penny’s honest, sassy, and deeply thoughtful voice, this is a story about choice, hope, dignity, and what can happen when humans finally learn to speak pony.
