Life after matric is a sentence many young people are excited to hear. For Thabiso, it became the beginning of a quiet nightmare. He did everything right. He was disciplined, intelligent, and consistent. A top learner who believed the promise he was told all his life: pass matric well and your future will be secured. But when the results came, what followed was not opportunity, but silence. Rejections from universities. Waiting lists. Closed doors. Months of doing nothing, not by choice, but by circumstance. As pressure grew inside a small, poor household, love slowly turned into disappointment. Encouragement turned into anger. Words spoken in frustration became wounds that never healed. Thabiso began to disappear, not physically, but emotionally. Depression crept in quietly. Alcohol and drugs became an escape. Hope became something painful to think about. Until one ordinary morning, when he cleaned the house, sat down with a pen and paper, and wrote a goodbye letter to the one person he wanted to make proud. A letter filled with apology, shame, and love. A letter his mother would only read when it was already too late. Life After Matric is a heartbreaking true story about failure, mental health, parental pressure, and the dangerous silence surrounding young men who are struggling. It is not just Thabiso's story. It is the story of many households, many children, and many conversations that never happened. This book asks one question that lingers long after the last page: What if someone had listened sooner?

Sibusiso Mahlangu was born on 5 October 2001 in Lydenburg (Mashishing), Mpumalanga, South Africa.
His journey as a writer began long before he ever published a book.
In Grade 6, as a quiet and naturally introverted learner, Sibusiso discovered writing as a way to express his thoughts and emotions. At the time, he was not writing books. He was filling pages with song lyrics, unknowingly laying the foundation for the author he would one day become.
In 2023, he published his first book, The Journey of Self Discovery, marking the beginning of a remarkable literary journey. Since then, he has continued to write books that inspire, challenge, and empower readers, including Life After Matric: Thabiso's True Story and You Were Born a Genius.
Beyond books, Sibusiso has established himself as a motivational speaker, podcaster, and digital creator. Through more than 1,100 YouTube videos, he has consistently encouraged people to believe in themselves, pursue their purpose, and remain resilient despite life's challenges.
His work has earned recognition both locally and internationally. He has been featured in major South African newspapers, including Daily Sun and The Sowetan, and his books have been acquired by public libraries, including the Dubai Public Library, allowing his words to reach readers beyond South Africa's borders.
What makes Sibusiso's story remarkable is not where he started, but how he refused to stop. With limited resources but an unwavering commitment to his calling, he has continued to build a body of work that proves persistence can take ordinary beginnings to extraordinary places.
Today, Sibusiso Mahlangu continues to write with one mission: to inspire people to believe that their circumstances do not determine their destiny, and that one decision, one book, or one act of courage can change the course of a life forever.
