Synopsis

Hakim always thought of himself as an American. After all, he was born in California and lived near Portland, Oregon.

Then the government put him on the terrorist watch list. His life fell apart: his wife left, he was detained by the police, and his drivers license was revoked.

A social media influencer finds out Hakim is on the watch list and begins to paint him as a public enemy and an outsider in his own country.

It becomes nearly impossible for Hakim to appear in public, so he hopes to lay low by camping out in the wilderness. But an attack at Mt. Rainier makes him realize his plan could put his family, friends, and life in peril.

To avoid the crowds at places like Mt. Rainier, Hakim flees to increasingly remote places.

As he struggles to restore the only life he knew, Hakim must also fight to counter the mistaken impression that he is a terrorist. While trying to stay ahead of the social media mob hunting him, he encounters a cannabis entrepreneur and a journalist who want to help. Can he trust two people he barely knows?

A frenzied wave of fear is spreading across the country, following Hakim everywhere he goes. With a bounty on his head, he has no time to lose, and no margin for error.

À propos de l'auteur

Edward Tanner left his career in public relations to write fiction. His first novel, Watch List, is a stand-alone psychological thriller. Originally from the west coast, he was drawn to the upper peninsula of Michigan from the first moment he saw Lake Superior. Edward now lives and writes in Marquette, Michigan.
