I shouldn't have taken the night shift.
Nic's list of regrets included much more than that, though. He regretted that his wife died before their daughter had grown. He regretted that he abandoned his daughter to his family to raise. He regretted fighting for two tours in a desert halfway across the world only to come back a broken man. And he regretted wallowing in the bottom of a bottle-or worse-for years before he finally tried to get back into his daughter's life and getting his own life sorted out.
But as Nic stared at an unmarked pallet in the warehouse where he's the only person in the night shift, his most immediate regret was taking the night shift. And if he had known how the night was going to play out, there was no way in hell he'd have taken the night shift.
The warehouse complex where he worked was soon going to turn into the battlefield where rival gangs fought for control-but was it really as simple as that? Was anything ever as simple as he thought? What about all the strange things one of the gangs was doing? And to make matters worse, his daughter came to pick him up because his driving license had been suspended, ending up smack dab in the middle of the pandemonium.
Will Nic manage to drive his forklift out of this bind?
