Synopsis

Modern Society on Beta exploited its natural resources and those of the next ten planets until the Universal Alliance Government was left with Planet Thirteen.

Adiu's orthodox homesteader ancestors chose to leave Beta and start again underground on Planet Thirteen, call Planet Nu in City Speak.

Jotre's homesteader ancestors also chose to leave Beta, but his father left his parents' underground homestead to live in Modern Society's upper class in the above-ground domed city of Lebanon.

Qyn, a Matron Family Services matchmaker, guides and teaches Adiu and Jotre as they seek a partnership union on a homestead underground in a time when The Universal Alliance Government is determined to exile or imprison any citizen unwilling to leave behind their religious beliefs and practice and to see it as the only true power in the universe.
