Synopsis

A loving homage to pulp magazines like Analog Science Fiction and Fact, The Last Lion is a haunting collection of illustrated hard science fiction short stories featuring organisms stretching nature's creativity for assembling adaptive life. From the giants, werewolves and mermaids of our own earthly legends to the infinite variety the universe's vastness teases such as sentient parasites and creatures who can "see" pain, the reader encounters a menagerie of fantastical yet plausible characters, each with their strengths and limitations. As with all true science fiction, they may not exist, but if they did, this is how these organisms would behave. These stories will change the way you think about biology. They are unapologetic hard science fiction that will linger long after the last words are read.
