Synopsis

Upon returning to the decaying Ainsworth plantation, Joe discovers that the legends of a curse are terrifyingly real. He meets Carry Vance, a descendant of the legendary Voodoo Queen Marie Laveau, who understands the spiritual imbalance plaguing the land. Together, they learn that Joe's ancestor, Silas Ainsworth, made a desperate "deal in the mire" with ancient entities centuries ago, mortgaging the souls of his descendants to restore his family's fortune.

As the curse manifests more aggressively-turning living relatives like Mrs. Gable into "zombified" predators driven by an unholy hunger-Joe and Carry embark on a perilous journey through the bayou to reach an ancient cemetery. Their goal is to find the source of the ancestral sin and sever the spiritual bondage. After a harrowing physical and spiritual gauntlet, they reach a mausoleum where their unwavering bond and love allow them to pay the spiritual debt, breaking the curse at its source just as dawn breaks over the swamp.
